My Inspirations
"Do it for you, not for school. These are only buildings, and only you can decide what to do."
"The kitchen's a laboratory, and everything that happens there has to do with science. It's biology, chemistry, physics. Yes, there's history. Yes, there's artistry. Yes, to all of that. But what happened there, what actually happens to the food is all science."
"With patisserie, as you can imagine, we don't feed people but offer them a moment of sweetness to share.”
Chef Wendy works as the catering manager of Shorewood Culinary Arts and also as an instructor in other institutions. We worked together in the kitchen preparing food for caterings and meals we had to serve. "Keep your nose to the grindstone. I kept my success up through cooking, working, and cooking."
"One can never know too much; the more one learns, the more one sees the need to learn more and that study as well as broadening the mind of the craftsman provides an easy way of perfecting yourself in the practice of your art."
Chef Dillard was my chef instructor for two years in Shorewood High School and pushed me to move forward with my culinary passion. Without her, I would not have gotten as far as I am in the Culinary Arts. I am truly thankful for her and hope to follow in her steps as a culinarian,
"I just make buttercream cake. Just buttercream." Ivenoven is an Instagram account that posts images of the cakes they make in their artisan home bakery in Jakarta. Seeing the multiples beautiful cakes they create every day is awe-inspiring and something to strive for.
"If you fall and get back up, you're so much stronger than someone who has never fallen."
Nectar & Stone is a company whose Instagram inspires me with their creations. They optimize the style of their food story and their creativity and beauty keep me thinking about having the best quality and aesthetic for customers to enjoy.
